Common Parent Questions

What age can my child start?

We welcome children from age 5. Our coaches are experienced with young learners and make it fun and engaging.

Does my child need to know chess already?

Not at all! Our Foundation programme starts from absolute zero — board setup, piece movements, and the joy of the game.

How quickly will I see improvement?

Most children show measurable progress within 6–8 weeks. Rating improvements typically follow within the first tournament season.

Are sessions in-person or online?

Both! Saturday club and 1-on-1 sessions are in-person at Curro Durbanville. Our High Performance Programme runs online on Wednesday and Thursday evenings.

What if we miss a session?

Missed sessions can be discussed with your coach. For 1-on-1 students, reasonable makeup arrangements are available.
